PROJECT: Craftsman Bungalow
Bringing life back.
Our client expressed her love of cottage gardens and asked for soft, flowy plantings with an elegant color palette. We delivered on this, California style! We blended together CA native plants with low water non-natives, providing plenty of forage for pollinators and wildlife. There is almost always something blooming here.
The pre-existing brick walkway had two individual steps which presented a tripping hazard. Reclaiming the brick, we rebuilt the walkway as a continuous ramp. We also choose to lift the garden up off the sidewalk by building a low stone wall out of our local, humble but beautiful, moss rock. We addressed poor soil health, after years of the top soil being blown away. We established a short “herb walk” carries you into the garden and allows the easy harvesting of tarragon, chives, thyme, oregano and rosemary.
