PROJECT: Elmwood

The smaller the garden, the more thoughtful the design needs to be.

For this complete garden re-build, we chose a modern, angular design for space efficiency. We obscured some of the angularity with carefully placed basalt boulders which are set protruding into the patio to balance the modern feel with naturalistic design details. The dining area sits on a more formal flagstone patio whereas a small lounging nook is treated with the relaxed feel of crunchy black basalt gravel. The patio is dry laid bluestone with basalt path fines to match the gravel.

The garden also features cor-ten steel edging and raised beds with integrated lighting, a collection of potted plants, citrus and persimmon trees, screening shrubs for privacy and a living wall that is showcased at night with low voltage lighting.
