PROJECT: Bushrod

When we were approached to give this modest front garden a makeover we thought, “sure, we could elevate the space,” literally!

We replaced a low wooden fence, which blocked the view of the plants, with a raised bed defined by retaining walls of a creamy Texan sandstone. We salvaged some of the existing plants, replaced a much-loved Maple which had died, and filled out the rest of the plant palette with texture galore. Texture is usually enough for us, but as a bonus there is always something blooming in this tiny garden. Finally, a single low-voltage light fixture makes the Japanese Maple a neighborhood feature at night.
